How To Protect Yourself On Your Next Revenge Travel
Revenge travel is on the rise. After having been quarantined and not being able to travel for more than two years, people are now dining out, and traveling to their bucket list destinations. While your bags are packed and ready to go, here are some points to remember on how to protect yourself from getting COVID-19 and proper face mask skincare.
Stay Up To Date With Both Your COVID-19 and Flu Vaccines
Vaccines are very effective at preventing you from getting sick, having severe illness, hospitalizations, and death. Make sure you get your booster shot 5 months after your complete dose for continued immunity.
Keep Your Mask On
To prevent and treat face mask problems, use mild, gentle, non-comedogenic products (products that won't clog pores). Limit washing to twice a day and after sweating. Apply a moisturizer before and after your mask. Wear the right mask to avoid irritation, choose cotton fabric and avoid synthetic fibers like nylon and polyester. Mask should be snug but comfortable so be sure to adjust the loop to it's proper length to avoid irritation behind the ears. If irritation occurs, stop applying your products and consult with a board-certified dermatologist.
Maintain Safe Distance From Others
Avoid poorly ventilated spaces and crowds. If you cannot avoid being in a crowded place like in a bus or metro, do not remove your mask while in transit.
Wash Your Hands Often
Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. It is especially important to wash your hands before eating, touching your face, using the restroom, blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing, handling your mask, changing a diaper, touching animals or pets. If soap is not available use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
Clean and Disinfect
Clean high touch surfaces regularly especially dining tables, phones, faucets, toilet door knobs, train seats, etc.
Monitor Your Health Daily
Be alert for symptoms like fever, cough, sore throat, or shortness of breath. Take your temperature if symptoms develop. Do not take your temperature within 30 minutes of exercising or after taking medications that could lower your temperature like acetaminophen.
