Hair Shedding: How Much is Too Much?

If you've been noticing more hair on your pillo and/or hair brush lately you might start worrying about hair loss. It is normal for us to shed anywhere from 50 to 100 strands of hair per day.

However, shedding more than that can result in a condition known as Telogen Effluvium. This condition usually happens after our body experiences a form of stress, commonly after pregnancy, surgery, and illnesses. Hair shedding should be differentiated from actual hair loss which could be a result from taking certain medications after certain medical illnesses and/or hereditary conditions. It is important to make the proper diagnosis so that you can receive the proper treatment which will likely be in the form of topicals, oral medication, and in-patient treatment procedures. Please consult your board-certified dermatologist so that he and she can help you restore your crowning glory.
